Micky van de Ven Brace Ends The Toffees' Run at New Home Ground

The Tottenham defender found the net on two occasions as Tottenham extended their winning streak in away games in the Premier League and delivered the Toffees their initial loss at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The win elevates the manager's side up to third in the Premier League, five points off local foes and leaders Arsenal.

Everton stay in 14th position and sit six points clear of the drop zone.

Tottenham analysis: Van de Ven excels in duties at each end of pitch

Following a uninspiring midweek display in the Champions League against the French side, where they managed a only attempts on goal, the manager chose Randal Kolo Muani up front instead of former Toffees player the Brazilian.

The break in the team's winning streak at home won't be a major worry for David Moyes, but their striker situation are.

Beto and the other striker - the Toffees' pair of recognised centre-forwards - had scored just a single goal combined before the weekend's outing.

And they were unable to contribute to that miserable tally on a damp and dreary night on Merseyside.

Beto's form was summed up when he opted to overhead kick a clear chance from close range, despite having room and time to reposition for a simpler attempt that would have tested Vicario.

Barry, too, was unable to make an impact after coming on for Beto in the second half.

It was not for a lack of opportunity. The majority of Everton's attacks came through the winger and Ndiaye, who relentlessly whipped dangerous crosses into the Tottenham box.
