Iran Reports Attack on US Base in Bahrain, Amid Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.

Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a significant and continuing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any destruction is not yet known and the US has remained silent.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - said they have shot down incoming projectiles in their air space.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That initial attack - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck locations linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.

Additional Developments

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces said it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a number of missiles," it added.

The statement noted debris fell on a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some material damage and killing a civilian.

The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
